SOUND RECORDER r- but without 60 second limitation

Hello all, I am looking for a super simple program that will allow me to
record for longer than 60 seconds. Microsoft sound recorder works, but
there is unfortunately a sixty-second time limitation.

Specifically, the reason why I am looking for this program in the event it
is relevant, is because I wish to convert my cassette recordings onto my
computer into .wav format.

Any help or assistance would be enormously appreciated. Thanks in advance

Yes, that final detail is relevant. I use the freeware version of
MusicMatch Jukebox for this purpose, as described here:
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/1316/ and here:

information on this topic, with other software recommendations, can be found

Hope that helps,
Ian.

Win95:
Edit Win.ini and enter the following in the [Soundrec] section:
max seconds=x (x = time in seconds)

Win98:
Record 30 seconds of silence, then use Copy&Paste to get
a large sound file. Reset the file marker to the start,
then record the music.

Try Audacity. Its free, simpel and a lot of plug-ins (called 'effects'
in the vst-format) are around (I have also a Delay Lama - plugin :) It
has a big record button too ...

check http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ for info, screenshots.

Or hit record once it reaches the end of 60sec, and again when it reaches 120sec
and so on until required length, then use tools options to adjust recording.

DBpoweramp with auxiliary input. Simple to use and will convert your
cassettes to wave or any other format you want.

The sound record that comes with Windows can be made to record as long as
you like.

I'll post details and procedure if anyone is interested.

From the Xcorder site:
Soundcard: Soundblaster or compatible cards.

Looks like a serious limitation to me.
