sound question relating to TightVNC

Installed TightVNC to remotely connect to my Vista Home Premium
desktop from my XP2Pro laptop.

The connection works fine. BUT when I click a remote Vista sound file
on the laptop (while connected) it won't play it on the laptop
speaker; but I can hear the file playing on the Vista upstairs! What's
up?

If I try a non-remote sound file on the laptop, it works fine; so I
know it's not a sound problem on the laptop.

Is there a VNC setting I'm missing?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
