If you installed the latest Sound Blaster Live Windows XP compatible
drivers, and you're sure that the mixer isn't set on Mute All or Mute for
various fields, and you're sure that the speakers are plugged into the
correct jacks on the card, and you're sure that the power is turned on for
the speakers, Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, go to the path:
C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLive\Diagnostics
(If Windows XP is on a drive letter other than C, use that drive letter in
the path)
Double click the file: diagent.exe
click to put a checkmark to select: Run Diagnostics Agent on Startup
That will put a Creative Diagnostics icon in you Notification Area
(formerly System Tray). Right click it, then left click: Run Diagnostics.
If the answer isn't found there, it could also be possible that you're set
for Digital Output Only, which will give NO sound if you don't have a
digital speaker system. If that's the case, open the mixer, click the
Advanced button, click to remove the checkmark to the left of Digital Output
Only.
