Sound Issues

I could sure use some help on this one!! Please!!

I have been using windows movie maker for a month or so, when i click on a
clip i can play it in the preview window and I get both sound and video,
however once I drag it onto the timeline, the sound does not transfer, it's
worked fine so far for all the other clips, and they're all from the same
recording device. Mute is not on either, please any suggestions would be
awesome, i'm slowly losing it.

Or
Some worked before and now some don't?

What file format are they?
