Sound is not working

Hi. I have a problem. I recently tried to download a dvd video software
called Action DVD player 2.6. After I did that the sound on my computer
stopped working. I then removed it from my computer, however, the sound is
still not working. I went through the troubleshooting guide and did
everything it asked for. It says SoundMax under Sounds and Audio devices, is
working properly however when I go to my Services or even to the Control
Panel; the SoundMax is not listed. I think the dvd player messed with it. I
was wondering if anyone knows how I would get SoundMax up again.

Also, I believe there is a way to set back my settings to a time before the
dvd player was installed, so that it would have all the same settings that
were there before I downloaded the player. Does anyone know how to do this?

1. You can reinstall the drivers for SoundMax. Get the drivers from:

a. The card mftr.'s website; OR
b. The motherboard mftr.'s website if onboard; OR
c. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

2. You can do a System Restore to before you installed the DVD player.
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
"Restore my computer to an earlier time". Follow the wizard.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
You can go back up to 90 days. The Restore will only restore your
system files, it may or may not work. If it doesn't work, you may
need to reinstall your soundcard drivers or "roll-back" drivers here:
Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio>Hardware tab>Properties
button>driver tab.
