sound in vista

meron

Tried to play a CD, but there is no sound either through my external
speakers nor through the internal speaker system. I get a message that I
have no permission to do this. I installed and later removed a webcam and
SKYPE in the hope that it would solve the sound problem, but it did not.
Please help!!!!

Thanks.

That doesn't "sound" like a Windows Mail problem.

Please help yourself by posting to a more appropriate forum...

You should cross post this to the vista.general and the vista.hardware_devices
groups.

And what do you mean that you get a message that you have no permission? What
exactly are you doing when you get this message?

Please include the maker of your sound device.

Is there a red X on the speaker icon in the notification area of the Taskbar?

What does Device Manager show for your audio adapter?

When I try to play an audio cd, I get a message with a red cross "Windows
cannot access the specified device, you might not have the appropriate
permission to access this item".
The maker of my device is the an audio pre-recorded CD. There is no sound
from my system at all even not the start-up sound. There is also no sound
from my external speakers, yet, all are correctly configured.

The sound controller shows Realtek High Definition Audio.

How do I cross post this to the Vista.general and vista.hardware_devices -
forgive my question but I am new at this.

I hope that my answers to your questions will help you find a solution to my
sound problem.

Thanks.

Simply add
",microsoft.public.windows.vista.general,microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices"
to the newsgroups field at the top of the reply window.

To cross post to more than one group, click "Newsgroups:" next to the address
line in the message window, highlight the group you want, and click the add
button. This will send the same message to all the groups, and one question will
appear in all those groups, so If someone in one group helps all possible
responders can see where the discussion is going.

Does the speaker icon in the Notification Area (at the extreme lower right of
your screen) have a red X on it?

Go to Control Panel > Device Manager and expand (click the + sign) the Sound,
video and game controllers entry. Does the Realtek entry have an exclamation
mark or a red X?

Please answer these questions in the general and the hardware devices groups.
This group is for Vista Windows Mail, one of the busiest Vista groups, and we
should not use it for this unrelated discussion.
