Sound in Vista

Kawliga

I have an older home made computer that I am trying to get setup for
vista. I have upgraded the graphics card and am now running vista with
aero working. Next problem is the sound as I have an old PCI512 sound
blaster card which Creative says is too old to have vista drivers.
Could anyone recommend a sound card to purchase that would work well
with vista. I don't play any games and just need it for music . I have
a set of Klipsch thx speakers and would like good quality sound while
playing all types of music. Any recommendations would be very much
appreciated.

SB X-Fi Xtreme audio does the trick for me, drivers work and sound is crisp
and clear.
Hope this helps.

I bought a SB Audigy 4 on eBay and it works fine. I had to install
Creative's beta drivers for Vista.

If you're looking for the cheapest card that works with Vista it's the Sound
Blast Live! 24bit (not the plain Live card) Any of the Audigy family works
and then on the high end, there is the X-FI series.

The Audigy SE 7.1 can be had for about $28 on newegg.com. Though I would
recommend the $60 X-FI Extreme 7.1. Anything over that probaly is probably
overkill for your needs

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I ordered the Xfi from new egg.
