Sound for narration in Powerpoint 2007

Trying to record a narration in Powerpoint 2007, the machine keeps saying it
is not receiving sound. I checked the mute button and other things.
Microphone is definitely working in other programs. What setting (and where)
could be preventing PP from recognizing my narration through the microphone?
Help would be much appreciated.

Hi

What exactly is the error message and when do you get it? And what type of
microphone is it (e.g. usb, headset, etc)

In addition to Lucy's suggestion, you may want to record your narration
outside of PowerPoint and then insert your sound file wherever you need it
to be. This has proved to be the better option.

I am trying to use a headset. I don't recall the exact language of the
message (and I'm not infront of my own computer right now), but when I
clicked on set micriphone level, instead of hearing my voice, it told me it
wasn't able to detect any sound.

I have previously recorded some narrations directly through Powerpoint, and
appreciated the convenience of that. If I have to do it outside of PP, I'm
not sure how to go about it. I want to narrate the whole slide show, with
varying times for each slide as I describe what I am trying to teach. Where
do I find out about how to do this outside of PP?

I do believe that if you click on All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment,
then Sound Recorder should get you on your way. Record whatever you need for
each slide, then insert the sound file (wav) where you want it to play.
