hi i recently reformatted my computer, i had xp before and audio worked fine,
now i have reformatted everything, and all looks good, but now there is no
audio, no cd works, no sound file works, it says that there is no sound card,
but it was working fine before, does anyone know if the sound card stops
working because you have reformatted your computer? thanks so much, also..my
stand by button isnt coming up, its gray and doesnt let me click on
it..thanks!

Hi,
have the exact same problem as mary it sounds like
however, how am i supposed to access the website to download the
installation as i dont know what my sound card's called.
tried belarc advisor to find out to no avail.
help!!!

I have the exact same problem,just reformatted my computer and had to
re-install video and sound card. I managed to install the drivers for the
video as i knew it was nvidia ge force bt i can't install the sound drivers.
I do not know what sound card i have & i have no utility disks. Does anyone
know how to check what sound card i have & which drivers to download.

Depends what machine you have - go to either computer manufacturer,
motherboard or sound-card manufacturer website and look for your model's
sound drivers.
If you have onboard sound, and you have no idea what sound drivers you need,
you can try either Microsoft default sound drivers, or Intel sound drivers
(for Pentium mobos) or AC'97 drivers.
At least post computer or mobo brand.
