sound card trouble in win 2000 pro

I wanted to know if anyone can answer this for me???
i just installed and set up windows 2000 pro on a computer that had
windows 98. the built in sound card was working when it had 98 but now
i put 2000 pro and it wont work?
the 98 never had software for it?
any suggestions???

Have you tried downloading and installing the Win2K-specific sound
drivers provided by your sound card's manufacturer, following the
accompanying instructions?
