Sound Card speaker setup advise please.

I am running a P4 1700 with 1Mb SDRAM, Audigy 1 sound card with 4 speakers
and XP Home SP2 fully updated.
On startup the speaker default is 2/2.1 in both the Creative Speaker utility
and the XP Control Panel - Sound setup.
Sound comes from 1 set of speakers.
I can change the setup in both utilities to 4/4.1 and I get sound from both
sets of speakers. This will remain at this 4 speaker setup until I reboot or
restart when the speakers have defaulted back to 2/2.1 setup.

How can I force XP to retain the 4/4.1 setup after a reboot?

Found a workaround.
Freeware program called SpeakerGuard. Works great.
