Am having problems with my Windows Media Player as when I try and pla
video files, I can hear the sounds but there's no picture
I thought it may be a codec problem so downloaded DivX player whic
plays the files perfectly with sound and picture but still n
improvement with WMP. The problem is that I can't work out a way t
watch online videos and streaming using DivX player so am stuck wit
the same sound but no picture problem
Does anyone know why this could be and how I can fix it? Its bee
driving me nuts

Online videos should play without using WMP. Your browser should show just
the video in a window in Internet Explorer. Videos are copyright material and
should not be downloaded to save. Check your Internet settings and look for
help from the video provider.

Its not the DivX Player you need it is the Drivers for WMP, these are
freely available here

http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm

You need the KLite Codec Pack Standard version.

Remove the DixX Player you got first,

Install the K Lite Pack, when installing uncheck the "Media Player
Classic" tab but leave everything else as default. Next page will ask
if you want to make WMP the default Player for all files - Yes you do
obviously.

This codec pack will play almost all Media Files via WMP.

As a matter of interest most "Free" Media Players come with spyware so
do not use them, that includes Real Player which is notorious and
Quicktime likewise, there are alternatives. WMP is no different but it
is more upfront and easier to disable the more intrusive phone home
stuff.
