Sound Blaster product and drivers for Win98SE?

S

Sam Bertui

I'm building a new PC and installing win98SE (yeah, right!). To my
disappointment, it seems that Creative has well and truly turned its
back on supporting customers.

(1) The SoundBlaster Live which I use on my "old" PC (2002) works fine
but is not longer available, it seems. (2) The successor, SoundBlaster
Audigy SE/7.1 WOULD be just right EXCEPT that it does not have drivers
for win98SE. (This last point was also confirmed by an email from Creative.)

So I'm stuck. I've got all the drivers from my original Sound Blaster
Live but doubt that they would work with Audigy SE/7.1. Apart from that
(not very useful) idea, I'm up the proverbial gum-tree. Thanks Creative
;-( Can anyone help out here? TIA

Yes, actualy the European one :) The problem I have is getting hold of
soundblaster soundcard hardware with win98 support. Re this email from
Creative Support:

"Dear Sam,

Thank you for emailing to Creative Technical Support.

With regards to your issue The Audigy SE
would not be supported under Windows 98SE
but only on Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4, Windows® XP SP 1 or Windows
XP® Pro x64.Hope this clears your doubts."

Guess i'll have to go for another soundcard. Pity, cause the yamaha
synthesizer works great with Creative../
