Sound Blaster Live Crashes Windows XP PRO

Hi,

I'm running windows XP PRO. I recently bought a Sound
Blaster Live 5.1 sound card because when I reinstalled
Windows XP PRO my built in sound card (integrated with my
Mother Board, a SiS 7018) didn't work anymore.

However, now with the new card when I have in the
computer windows boots and then after about 15 seconds
windows freezes. If I take the card out windows runs
fine. I tried to update the sound card drivers, but the
only way I can do that is with the computer when it
dosent have the sound card in it (so it wont freeze).
However, when I downloaded the updated drivers without
the sound card in it says "Sound card not detected"!

Any help?

BTW my windows is up to date all all updates.

Is the SoundBlaster card in the PCI slot FURTHEST away from the AGP slot?

Did you remember to DISABLE the onboard sounchip in the BIOS?

Just because the on-board sound no longer works does not mean that you do
not have to disable it in the bios. Do so! If you don't, it may well cause
problems with your computer.
