Sony handycam capture but no sound ...AArgh!

1st time video editing with new pc and already captured some video through a
usb connection into handycam docking bay.
first lot of captured video came out with sound but since then only video
and no audio with the capture ??..
I have a NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800LE soundcard if that is any help...i'm afraid im
limited in my pc knowledge

use the software with your handycam picture package copy clip to hard drive
on using the program then Open with picture package and convert Audio.
Open Movie maker and import video - Drag & drop
file into Story Board not timeline then save moive after editing etc then
play or burn to DVD

Or use firewire instead of usb which tends to give better results.

Thanks guys ...
I tried installing the sony picture package software and it changed my audio
setup..

I thought i had changed the audio setup to everyway possible before but
musn't have..
