sony dvd-rom

hi...my sony dvd-rom ddu1621..was playing up so uninstall it and then
rebooted....to install it...now it says found new hard ware...but it didnt
pass the loggo test....cam any one help to fix this problem...
or do i have to get a new dvd-rom...if so what is a compatiable unit that
works with windows xp

Ignore the message, and see if it works. If not, check the Sony WEBsite
for an XP certified driver.

what problems were you having with the drive?
you may have needed to clean the laser.
you may need a new drive.
try this, shut down the comp and remove the cables to the
drive,reboot and the shut down again and reconnect the
cables. windows should see the drive,if not then you need
a new drive.
there may be a firmware update for your drive but no
specific drivers are available.
