sony dvd ddu1621

dear friend
I have a DVD rom (sony ddu 1621). I coud not play some DVD which are good quality. I frequently have this problem. is it due to the problem in this particualr DVD rom or is it something do with the region which was not set. please help me. now I like change to a samsung DVD rom - please advice.

Unfortunately, some DVD's simply do not play well (and some do not even play at
all) in certain DVD drive brands! Sony is one such brand that is apparently
notorious for this! I myself have a Sony DDU1211 and it is not able to play
at least 3 DVD's--one I purchased and two I've once rented!

Apparently this is to do with UDF file system read issues in these drives.

Your best bet would be to purchase and use a regular DVD player OR, if you can,
return the Sony drive and exchange it for a Pioneer DVD drive. Apparently these
are among the best high-end DVD drives for computers!
