Something Strange Happens on My Excel Workbook

Hello all,

I have an Excel file that I created from scratch. Somehow, whenever I open
that Excel file, it opens two, and the file name shows the file name pluses
":1" and ":2" on the title bar.

For example, I open that file (ExcelFile.xls), and the ExcelFile.xls opens
two (because I can see both under Window on the menu bar). Each one is
labeled on the title bar as "ExcelFile.xls:1" and "ExcelFile.xls:2".

Does anyone have a similar experience? What causes that problem, and how
can it fix it?

You have 2 windows of the same workbook open and then you saved. Just close
one of the windows and then save

Hi,

You've accidentally got two windows open with the same file by inadvertantly
clicking on Window>New Window.

Select one of the windows (Not the Excel application) and Close to have one
Window remaining and save that.

Thanks for your response. I only double-click on the file from the
directory where the file is saved. I never click on the New Window through
Window>New Window.

It doesn't matter how you open the file, you have already saved the file
with 2 windows open. Why don't you try Mike's and mine solution

Hi,

Did you try what I suggested?

At some time in the past you (or someone else) has accidentally clicked on
New Window and having done so you will get 2 windows until you follow the
directions I gave you.
