Something is deleting my favorites (folders)

IE6 on XP Pro.
Been happening for a while now.
Every so often when I go to my favorites in IE I discover a folder missing.
I try to keep things tidy.
I had a folder called "Forums & Groups" with about 20 sites in it & this is
the last to go.
I suspect some over zealous anti-virus program or anti-spyware is the
culprit.
I DON'T have Defender!
I have AVG & AVG anti-spyware.
Over the last week or so I've lost several folders out of there.
The names of these folders have varied greatly.
I've got that way now that I've saved a copy of the favorites folder off my
computer.
I only have one user (Me) who is the Admin.

Before it goes any farther click File | Import and Export and export your
favorites.
