Solver Add-in problem

I have a problem wherein I have two workbooks open. These are totally
unrelated but I sometimes cut and paste data from one workbook to the
other.

The problem is thus. If I have the Solver add-in installed in
workbook A and switch to workbook B and back again, the Solver no
longer appears in the Tools menu. If I select Add-ins, the Solver box
will be checked, indicating that the solver is installed.

If I uncheck the box, closed the Add-ins pane, open it again and
recheck the Solver box, then the Solver is back in the Tools menu...
until I switch workbooks and then it's gone again.

I seem to recall that this is a documented bug. Has a fix been made
for this problem?

Thanks,

Wes

I have neither encountered nor read or heard of this problem. You
might want to search support.microsoft.com for more on the subject.

What version of XL are you using? Do you have any third party add-ins
installed? Do you have any custom event-driven code in open workbooks
or workbooks installed in the startup folder or somewhere else that is
affecting the XL configuration?

One of the workbooks did have some VBA code that was the problem (sort
of). I've worked with the author of that program and got it fixed.

I did search the KB without success but I definitely recall reading
something on the need to uncheck and then recheck the solver add-in.
It is for sure the case that the solver can be reported installed when
it is not.

This is with Excel 2000 BTW.

Thanks,

Wes
