Solution to CD Recording Software Makes Windows XP Unstable

If you have this error, go to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315345.

After step, 7, also rename cdr4vsd.sys to cdr4vsd.old.

After step 20, find any key/value/data that contains cdr4vsd and delete
it.

That worked for me (after a fair amount of frustration). If you are
still having problems, you can find a list of drivers that are
incompatible with WinXP at
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/security/drv_protect.mspx#EBAA.
Pay particular attention to those from Roxio.

Hope that helps!
