Hi All,

On July 16, I posted a call for help for the following:

SYMPTOM
Consistent system failure when connected to the Internet,
followed by a blue screen with the following message:

***Stop: 0x000000D1 (0xE4583040, 0x000000FF, 0x00000001,
0xBB9410F0); Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal;
***AddressBB9410F0 base at BB93D000; DateStamp 3a6407b5 -
mrxsmb.sys. ***Beginning dump of physical memory.

The first parameter in parentheses changes, but each of
the others remains constant. No identifiable pattern for
the system shut-down, which would occur at any time.

DIAGNOSIS

Through numerous tests, I concluded that there was a
conflict between my anti-virus/firewall program
(TrendMicro PC-Cillin 2003) and the mrxsmb.sys driver.
Thanks to a TrendMicro tech who logically realized the
program's scan of the mrxsmb.sys file was probably
creating the conflict, I added the mrxsmb.sys file to the
anti-virus program's Exceptions List, which prevents
scanning of this file. I've now been problem-free for 24
hours -- a record.

Hope this is helpful.
