Solaris 10 hardware choice

What is the most compatible hardware for solaris 10 other than hardware

from sun ? I want to build a desktop with solaris 10 What is the
optimal hardware configuation that would ensure seamless software
installation? While sun offers desktops such as ultra 20, what other
hardware are tested to be fully functional for solaris 10 ? I want to
build a desktop that would primarily have solaris 10 as the operating
system. The hardware's compatibility for other operating systems are
unimportant. what processor? Preferably a dual core amd or intel
processor ... Is there any other choice that is equally affordable ?
what motherboard ? Must be a motherboard that supports dual core and
has an architecture friendly for solaris and must be available off the
shelf. what DVD+ R/W drive ? Is there an affordable optical drive
alternative ? what graphics card ? what media reader ? a 5 in 1 ? a 13
in 1 ? what montor ? a 17" LCD... but which brand ? what else ?

Solaris 10 is a great OS.

There is a newsgroup, "alt.solaris.x86" where people who
may know more about Solaris on AMD and Intel systems can
help you.

I suggest you post this question there.

Dear Larry Lindstorm,

Thanks for the Solaris X 86 link. This group must also be a group with
members experienced in AMD 64 for X 86. My plan is to build a desktop
around an AMD processor.
