Power Point is NOT part of Windows XP pro.
It is part of Microsoft Office 2003 or you can purchase Power Point
separately. If you need Power Point only to view slide created by others,
you can get a Power Point slide viewer for free from Microsoft.

Yes, you are wrong. Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows,
has ever included Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, or any other significant
application software. Such programs have to be bought, either by themselves
or as part of Microsoft Office.

If your previous computer, running an older version of Windows, came with
one or more of these, it was because the vendor who sold it bundled it as
part of the package he sold you, not because that version of Windows came
with it. Some, but not all, vendors do the same with Windows XP.

if not, what
should i do to get it?

PowerPoint is available for sale at your local software store and on many
web sites. It can be bought either by itself, or as part of Microsoft
Office.

Alternatively, if you just want to view PowerPoint files, but not create
them yourself, you can download a
free PowerPoint viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...27-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&DisplayLang=en

Also there are other presentation packages (similar to, but identical to
PowerPoint) in WordPerfect Office, OpenOffice, StarOffice, etc.

No office applications come with the XP OS. Some computer vendors, many in
fact, bundle certain applications such as Works or Office, with the system.
To get PowerPoint you'll need to go to the store and buy it. If all you
need is the ability to view PowerPoint files without editing them get the
free PowerPoint viewer. Here is a link to it.

Sorry, typo. That should be "similar to, but *not* identical to,
PowerPoint."

No, it's not part of WinXP Pro, or WinXP Home or any other MS OS.
Neither is Word or Excel. You have to buy them separately.

You might also check out OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org). Their
Impress presentation program does much the same thing, and is free.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase the PowerPoint, or the Microsoft Office productivity suite.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

For the budget-minded (who also don't need all of PowerPoint's
specific features), there's the free, open source OpenOffice:

http://www.openoffice.org/

If all you need is to view PowerPoint-produced files, there's a
free viewer available:

PowerPoint is part of Office, not Windows. Though if you don't want to
chunk down money but want seamless PowerPoint compatability, check out
OpenOffice Presentor. http://www.openoffice.org/
