Software Installation Problems

Since I installed Windows Vista Home Premium, any new software I try to
install (Vista compatible) always stops early in setup and says the
installshield wizard was interrupted and did not install. I have read that
you can change the install to compatibility mode, however, I'm not sure how
to get there. When I right click on Installshield, it does not offer
Properties. Where do I find the install setup to right click on since it is
new software and not already on the pc?

I just purchased my second new photo software, Photo Explosion Deluxe and it
isn't finishing the install. I tried Photo Impact Pro II with no luck and a
refund.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have had a similar problem installing Roxio and other programs. In my
case, the installation of a more current version would progress 3/4 of the
way and then rollback and say installation was interrupted. Roxio felt that
this was because remnants of the earlier version remained on my hard drive
and gave me directions for eliminating the remnants so I could complete the
install. I have tried this with other programs I've had difficulty
installing and it works well. Follow these instructions substituting the
name of your software or previous versions of photo software on your computer
to remove obstructing remnants before attempting installation.

I don't know if this will help you or not. Good luck.

I have a similar question. I got bought my comp that has windows vista
installed and I tried to load software from an MP3 player that I got and it
said "compatibility issues occured and blocked the program from loading onto
my comp. Now I have all the software loaded onto my comp with the exception
of this 1 program and the computer recognizes that I have loaded the software
but when I try to plug in the MP3 player is says no device detected. Is there
some patch I can use or a download that would let vista recognize the
software?

You can right-click on the program's setup.exe, select properties, then
compatibility

Thanks for the answer. I will give that a try and get back to all the others
who replied with their questions to my question.

I got to the Compatibility box, checked it, retried to install Photo
Explosion Deluxe, all to no avail. When I went back and tried to install it
as Administrator, I could not get the Admin. box to darken. It was faded
out. I had alwready unchecked the Compatibility box. What's next?
