software for video transfer

i'm looking for software to help me transfer vhs video yo dvd..i have
something called dazzle which is a very basiuc device for connecting
the vcr to the computer it works fine but the software i dont like. its
not user friendly. there are many setup options to choose from that i
have no idea what they mean..

I have not used Dazzle, however if it is a device that windows
handles as a normal capture device you can
use www.virtualdub.org that is free and has
a capture option
File>capture AVI then you select the device you want to use...

you can also adjust the compression to that which would comply to the
format you need for DVD.
