socket error message

Hi I have been trying to update different programs on my PC but have not been
able to connect to server, while trying to update spybot I got the error
message socket error 10061 connection refused, what does it mean and how can
I fix it, I have not been able to update pc-cillin antivirus, adaware or any
other program that needs updating. I have no problems connecting to
internet explorer , the problem is only updating and downloading. I have xp
home ed. Thank you for your help

What is the complete error message? 10061 can have several causes.
