So Much For The Heedless Jerks At Avast....

I sent four emails to Avast support detailing my problem of
not finding a setting that would enable Avast 4.8
Professional to keep running after it found malware. I did
not want it stopping each and every time it found
something, forcing me to tell it what to do. It's a pain in
the butt having to sit in front of the computer for the
entire length of a scan. Kaspersky can run an entire scan
and then present it findings. Why cannot Avast? (Kaspersky
wouldn't run on my old comp, that's why I had to go with a
different AV. I now have a new comp with all the Win XP
updates, so I'm going back to Kaspersky.)

The real bone of contention I have with these fools at
Avast is this: In each and every email I sent, I gave them
the version of the program I was using, Avast 4.8
Professional. Each and every time the idiots emailed back
that the setting I spoke of was only available in Avast 4.8
Professional. Huh?

What in the hell were they reading? I can only surmise that
they really don't give a crap what you state in an email,
but merely send some automated or semi-automated answer in
reply.

So much for the nffubyrf at Avast. Never will I buy any
product from them.

Try stepping up to Avira's AntiVir Personal for a month or so. They
also have a paid professional version but many stay with the freeware
version.

I had Avira's paid version on my wife's machine a year or so ago. I
wasn't too thrilled with it despite its excellent rating by the
independent AV testers. That stupid jumping box that bounced up and down
from its position in the system tray on every download was disturbing.
There were other peculiarities about it that I didn't like. I much
prefer Kaspersky. However, I will first try the Kaspersky trial
version. These AV programs have gotten too touchy these days as to
whether or not they will work on a given computer with certain software.
I also wish AVs would stop trying to be all things to all people and
stick to finding viruses & trojans only.

Back to Avast - I have had this "skimming" nonsense with other companies
also in which "support" crews do not *read* the damn emails, but skim
them only. *Nothing* gets me so cvffrq with an outfit as this too
prevalent trait.

And why would you assume that you are dealing with people whose first
language is English???

I just had a slight "go-round" with a "Nathan" on a game site and I know
from previous tech enquiries that I was dealing with either India or
Pakistan.......they forget to change their names, lol.

So I alluded to the fact that their total ignorance of what I was asking was
because they were not in North America and English was not their first
language. Nathan replied with a semi right answer and then told me that
letters to tech support were not private and I would be wise to read the
TOS. A veiled threat in my book.....so I asked him to explain WHY!! So far
no answer. Jerks!!

These are the experts who told me one time to revert to an old version of
Sun Java if the new one was acting up........sheesh!!

How much English does it take to recognize the phrase "Avast 4.8
Professional"?

How much English does it take to recognize "Canadian Flag". We were in the
same boat, with different sails.

I detest the fact that American and some Canadian companies outsource their
tech support to South Asia.....politically correct term for India and
Pakistan, btw. And when I realize that is what I am dealing with, I fire
them. Dell is a big offender, for instance.

You can bitch.....or you can fire them and use Kaspersky. Your choice. I
happen to use Avast 4.8 btw. But have had no need to write them.
