Somehow, a trojan downloader virus got onto my pc. I have 2 hdd
currently. The c: drive has 2 main partitions. a 216 gb section for
main use that also has vista on it, and the other part i just installed
vista on. the second hdd is just for game/picture/movie storage. Once i
completed the install to the g: drive(second part of main hdd) i tried
formatting the c: drive. it said that windows cannot format this
partition. Is there a formatting option on the vista reinstall cd(using
reinstall cd that came with my dell machine)? any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Your post is a bit hard to understand. Are you asking how to remove the
(unnamed) trojan or how to do a clean install of Vista?

To remove the trojan (possibly, depending on with what your computer is
infected):

Do the preparatory steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Then do the specific removal steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan - Smitfraud,
Spyaxe, Spyfalcon

You can also check to see if there are targeted removal steps for your
malware here:
Bleeping Computer removal how-to's -

Not all tools used will work in Vista and you will need to run them
elevated. If you are unable to remove the infection by following the
general steps, register at one of the HijackThis forums as suggested.

To do a clean install of Vista, refer to the manual that came with your Dell
computer to see if you have a "restore to factory condition" or a real
Vista installation DVD.

In either case, you would put the disk into the drive and restart your
computer. At the very first beginning screen, press F12 and choose the
option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Addendum - I didn't mean to include the information about removing Spyaxe,
etc. It crept in when I wasn't looking. ;-) The rest of the information is
what I wanted to say to you though.
