I have a Windows 2000 member server that hangs up when
logging on. The logon has to be aborted with a "Ctrl-ALt-
Del" and tried a second time. Then the logon is successful.
I looked at the Task Manager when the logon is "hung-up"
and there is a file named smsc.exe that is popping in and
out of the processes tab changing process ID# in addition
to the same file sitting in there statically. If I end the
dynamic smsc.exe process the user can be logged on.
Can someone please explain what this application is and
maybe how I can stop this from happening?
Thanks...
