smitfraud.c toolbar888 - CANT REBOOT

I believe I have both the the above and have been slowly cleaning up my
computer.

However, it will only boot in safe mode. Even in msconfig diagnostic
startup, he computer hangs after the music but before he desktop.

Thoughts?

Have you tried removing it with your anti-virus or spyware remover?
There are different tools out there to remove it, search and you will
find, like this: http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

Then do the specific removal steps here:

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode. You will need to get all tools/updates from a different,
known-clean machine with an Internet connection and a cd burner (or
have a usb thumbdrive large enough to transfer the files).

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
