Smartstart 7.30 add disk to array and make it raid 0,1

Somehow somebody made a mistake on installing a server(new HP DL380).
We now have a one disk raid 0 array and the second disk is not
configured.

Our goal is to get a two disk array with raid 0,1 without dataloss
because the server is already installed. Afterwards the volume will be
the same size as one disk because we mirror the disks(see raid
setting).

We can extend the array and then maybe migrate. But is there someone
who did this recently and who can give us the exact steps to do this
change?

With kind regards,

Hi J. L. Harmsen

First of all you have to make a backup copy of your HD. I will recomend
Paragon disk tool. Paragon disk tool can make an exact copy to another
disk (your plan B (restore/ try again) :). Then you need to check if
the driver for the RAID is pressent on your system. If the RAID driver
isn´t present on you system then your system will show a blue screen
for a second and then restart again and again if you just establish a
RAID. On server 2003 you will not be able to install a driver before
the RAID is enabled. If you have 2 channels on the RAID controller,
then you need to ENABLE RAID on the one you DON´T use. If you RAID is
on channel A then enable channel B. Then start you system Server 2003.
The hardware will be found, install the driver. Now the driver is
present on your system. Now your are ready to set up the RAID. Remember
if you need to remove the RAID and keep the data on one of the HD.
Remove RAID and chose NONE. With Paragon you copy your HD again and try
again if it fails. Good luck.

Kind Regards

Per ;-)
