Smallest footprint AV for Win98SE

Looking for the smallest footprint free AV software for a low spec
portable with 32MB memory. AVG does work - but the PC takes forever to
get going....

Of all the different AVs I've tried over the past 5 years (many),
NOD32 has the smallest footprint. It's also fast, accurate, and for
me anyway, has always been completely trouble free.

Of all the different AVs I've tried over the past 5 years (many),
NOD32 has the smallest footprint. It's also fast, accurate, and for
me anyway, has always been completely trouble free.

No. I like it so well I really don't mind paying for it. I'd much
rather use it than any of the less expensive or free alternatives.

I couldn't see one... but these things tend to get hidden I suppose

NOD offers a one month free trial before you need to buy it. Be sure to
disable all graphics to get the smallest footprint.

For your system you might also consider F-Prot for DOS:

http://www.f-prot.com/products/home_use/dos/

....free for home use and it works fine on Win9x in a DOS windows.

Do you mean you only have 32 meg or ram in total or left over after
windows has loaded?.If its 32 meg of ram total youd be better off
spending your money on a stick of ram as trhis would increase speed
dramatically.

Consider running any windows AV in on-demand mode only, and maybe buy
more RAM: http://www.crucial.com/
