Slow transfer

Hi

I have Vista Ultimate networked to a XP Pro through
a Speedstream Ethernet Modem/Router which is said to
be a 100MB/Sec

When I transfer files or folder between the two PC's
the best speed I get is 700 KB/Sec.

Any ideas on what I can do to speed this up, could it be the AV or firewalls
slowing things up?

Don't worry to much about transfers speeds in your LAN, it'll just

drive you crazy. Almost as crazy as worrying about how fast your machine
boots.

That is probably good advice, looking it up in Google just gets me confused.
