Slow Slide Transitions

I have set the slides to transition to medium, however the speed varies from
slide to slide. I have showing pictures on the slide without very little
text. Any ideas on what could be slowing the presentation down?

Are you perhaps putting images into your presentation straight from a
digital camera?

a 5 - 10 meg picture can slow things down as powerpoint tries to not only
read the info, but also display it.
