Slow shutdown

I am experiencing a very slow shutdown. It takes over three minutes to
shutdown although I have no problem on start up. I run Ad-Aware, Spybot and
CWShredder daily. I run disk cleanup, defrag and delete temp files weekly. I
ran Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup Service and that did not help. I'm
current on Windows Updates. This started when I installed SP2 which is
probably just coincidental. Any ideas?

Lisa, slow shutdown can be caused by selecting an option " Clear Page
File on shutdown ".
Go to Control panel> Administrative tools> local security policy> then
goto local policies ---> security options.
Then change the option for "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile" rt
click>select Properties>Disable.

Rich, I don't see local security policy or security options. I have six
icons and I've checked each one. Could you be more specific? Thanks!

They are in Pro only. If you have XP Home, they are not provided
