Slow Power Point

F

Filipe

I have been having problems with PowerPoint 2007 being very slow. It takes
forever to jump from slide to slide, and it is next to impossible to edit
text. I have already tried the solution below:
Rightclick the Windows desktop and choose Personalize.
Click "Display Settings".
In the Display Settings dialog box, click "Advanced Settings..."
On the resulting dialog box, click the "Troubleshoot" tab.
Click "Change Settings"
You'll probably see a User Account Control message box asking for permission
to continue. Click "Continue"
On the resulting Display Adapter Troubleshooter dialog box, move the slider
one notch to the left.
Click OK as many times as needed/close any windows that opened along the
way, and return to the Windows desktop.

However when I go to troubleshoot tab, there is a message saying "Your
current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware
acceleration settings"
What should I do?
Lucy Thomson, Can I have your e-mail address in order to have a better
conversation?

Actually, it did not work. Is there any other solution?
It 's Windows Vista and PowerPoint 2007.
About the message saying "Your current display driver does not allow changes
to be made to hardware acceleration settings". Is there any way to change the
hardware acceleration settings? I think the solution is related to it.

Not that I'm aware. My video card also does not allow me to change the
hardware acceleration settings. It frustrates me, but luckily, I haven't had
to do so for PPT.

You might try PPT's hardware acceleration settings since those on Windows
aren't readily available. It's on the Slide Show tab. Click Set up Slide
Show. Try running both with and without "use hardware graphics acceleration"
ticked.

A couple of other things, since the printer driver didn't work...

1. Please try the printer driver mentioned here:
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00952.htm

2. What antivirus program do you use?

3. If you go to Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins, what add-ins are
listed?

Hi Echo,

I tried with and without "use hardware graphics acceleration" and didn't work.
1)I also tried with the driver mentioned
2) Norton
3) - Send to Bluetooth and - Factset Office COM Add-in (It is a software
like bloomberg)
Is there something else that I can do? Is it my computer's problem? It is a
DELL core duo 2. Run 3.5

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the info, Filipe.

I would disable the Norton Office plug-in. Here's how:
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00387.htm

I would also remove or disable the Send to Bluetooth add-in. I seem to
recall it's been implicated in crashes (or something) in the recent past.

I'm not familiar with Factset, but if disabling the Norton Office plug-in
and Send to Bluetooth add-in don't help, then it's worth trying.

Oh, also run Office Diagnostics. It's in Office Button | PPT Options |
Resources.

Hi Echo,

I tried all the steps you suggested and it is still slow. The only thing
that I haven't done was to disable the 2 add-ins mentioned, because when I
try it the message below comes:

"The connected state of Office Add-ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
cannot be changed".
Any other step?

Thanks again
