Hello,

I'm currently using a NAS based on Win2000SP3 and when accessing
certains share with about 400 object, it take between 15 to 20 seconds for
explorer to display the folder. Using a 2000 Pro as a client it's
instatenous. Accessing a NT4.0 file server from XP is also fast.

The problem seem related to XP -> 2000.

I've look in the KB and find the SMB slow with 2000DC, but this
eventhough it's for DC doesn't improve performance.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank

I'm having a little trouble following your post but if I
understand what you said about SMB it doesn't just apply
to the server. I applied the patch to a Windows XP
workstation and it immediately started accessing files
like you would expect it to.

Hello Michael...

Ok... maybe it was not clear...

The problem is that browsing folder from an XP client to a 2000SP3
server is slow, take between 15 to 20 seconds to display a folder list
containing about 400 objects. If I access the same share from a 2000 client,
it take about a second before the folder display, which should be the
expected behavior.

As I mention I've try to implement the tcpack/tcpdel registry key, but
this had no impact on the performance.

Therefore I'm looking for an something else...

Hi Michel,

Have a look at articles 810907, 811492, 812937, 296264, 321169, 329170.
Also, putting the XP-nics on anything but autosense might help.

Thank

Look at those KB... was aware and tried most of them, the other doesn't
apply...

However which known issue are you aware of for autosense?

It is a known issue, but don't ask me why. Xp must be very sensitive about
it.
