Hi.

I am very frustrated. It seems as though i can not transfer faster then
3.0mb/s on my LAN. I have two windows xp pro machines and a netgear
rp114 router. When I copy over any size file (usually around 1 or 2 gig
folders) the transfer speed caps at 3mb/s. In theory should I not be
able to transfer at speeds of 100 mbps?

ideas? much appreciated!

You need to also consider the cards, their drivers, their setitings, and all
related cabling and its condition. Also, consider any software that is
examining the network traffic.

Both have PRIVATE IP addresses and the latest hardware drivers?

Yes both have automatically assigned IP addresses, and the drivers are
recent if not the latest. I also connected the computers directly to
each other through their Ethernet cards with the same results, so i am
eliminating the router.switch as the source of the problem.

What cards are they?
