Slow Microsoft Word 2007 performance running on Win7 64bit

Hi, I've search for this topic but seems like no one has the same problem as
I do.

Ok, I just bought a desktop (Intel E7500, 4Gb RAM, 320HDD) running on 64 bit
Windows 7. My problem is as the title. My PC becomes sluggish whenever I use
Word 2007 this dosent happen when i used other programs (eg, excel, open
office, microsoft works etc). I am wondering how should i improve this.

I did all the upgrades (office updates and win7 updates) but nothing seems
to work.

I reinstall office 2007 and did the updates - still the same.

I dont think I SHOULD reinstall Win7 as what is the purpose of having a
'problematic' OS in the first few weeks when after it was released.

Hope you can help me with this.

Many thanks,
L Hadi

I have the same problem, it just started getting worse this last week or so.
I uninstalled Office and the problem is still there. Autofill also stopped
working, it used to suggest days of the week and months, but has stopped
doing that. It is really slow when a document is first opened.

Out of curiosity did you have a HP LaserJet printer install in Win7 64bit?
Because I do and word just goes crazy when I open any document or just by
creating a new one with nothing on it some of the things I experience are the
mouse pointer flickers like is busy and performance drops really fast my
temporary solution for my problem is switching my default printer to
something else like MS xps or whatever printer is available in the printer
and fax control center this solve the mouse flickering and performance drop
for me this has also lead me to believe that the printer drive from hp is not
compatible with win7 and office by the way this happened in Office 2007 and
office 2010 beta so must be printer conflict as everything else just seem to
work fine.

I too have just installed Windows 7 on a different pc on the network ,
running 64bit , and have seen the same problem , but switching the
default printer to another one temporarily solves the problem.
