Slow menues

Hi,
When Istart a program from 'all programs' it takes about 15 seconds for
each folder to expand and show the contents within. Otherwise Vista is
OK speed wise. dual core 2.0 2 gm ram 256 nvidia 7900gs. I tried to
tweak the settings as in tweakui but it still is quite slow. Why is
this?

Try defragging your system and do a disk clean up, might improve

Thanks, I found the real problem though. In the start menu properties
there is an option to "highlight recently installed items". unchecking
this increased menu performance about ten-fold.

This problem was making my Start Menu unusable. I took minutes to expand, not
it's immediate. Only minor issue it's "highlight newly installed items" not
"highlight recently installed items". Youget to it through <Properties>
<Customize>
