Slow loading design previews PP2002

Recently I've noticed the design previews in the right-hand task pane load
very slowly, sometimes it takes 5 minutes or so. I noticed also that if I
close PowerPoint prior to it completing loading of the previews it still uses
CPU (if I do a ctrl-alt-del I notice POWERPNT.EXE using almost 100% of CPU
usage, even though the program has been closed). Any thoughts on this??

Is your presentation very large? Are there large photos (or other large
objects) on those slides? Did you install the latest Updates for PowerPoint?
