Slow Down Shut Down Process?

Hello,

I have Windows XP Pro Service Park 2. When my system goes through shut
down, it displays an error/informational message which flashes on and off so
quickly I cannot read it.

Is there a way to display the Shut Down process one screen at a time so I
can read this message?

Thank You!

You may want to check your event logs.
Start/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer

Look for an problem entries with a date and time stamps that matches when
you last shut down the PC.

Thank You. Very helpful start!

Per the Event Viewer, the message the system displays during shut down is
"The Event log service was stopped."

Is that anything to be concerned about?

If there is no additional information in Event Viewer, as suggested
by JS, then do some trouble-shooting. Firstly, before shutting down
the computer, open task manager and check the applications that are
running. All of them should normally shut down when turning off the
computer; look for the one that requires to be turned off manually.
Network connections that are running at shutdown can also generate
such messages if they remain connected. Take a look at the StartUp
folder; sometimes, but rarely, an application that normally starts
up with the computer does not and an error message is generated at
the time of shutdown. Generally, if the computer shuts down normally
and starts up normally on the next time, this is something not to worry
about.
