slow boot with xp pro

Rich Czuba

i have a new sony laptop (p4, 2ghz, 512mb ram) that came with xp home. i
repartitioned the drive and added a dual boot and xp pro. the xp pro boot
is extremely slow. when it gets to "loading your personal settings" it sits
there for 2-3 minutes before the desktop appears.

is there any way to diagnose what is happenning here and why this portion of
the boot process takes so long? has anyone had a similar experience and if
so, how did you fix it?

thanks,

rich c
