Slow boot with A7V

Dudes,

I changed my hard disk with a Maxtor 160Gb and WinXP Pro boots so slow now
(around 3-4 mins). I updated the VIA 4-in-1 drivers (v4.51, dated
12/01/2003) and Promise Ultra100 driver (v2.0.0.39, dated 8/22/2002) but
same deal. Does anybody have an idea what's going on? I used the 80-pin IDE
cable for the Maxtor 160Gb connected to the Ultra100 sockets on the mobo
(colored blue). Mobo BIOS is 1003 version.

There's also another problem. I also added an NEC DVD+/-RW 4x but WinXP
doesn't see my old Pioneer DVD-ROM drive anymore. They're both masters on
the primary and secondary regular IDE sockets (colored black). I also
switched them but no go. I haven't tried slaving one to the other as it's a
pain in the ass moving the little jumper. They're both set up as "Auto" on
the BIOS settings and the computer sees both when booting up but when XP
starts, it only sees the primary master drive.

Any help on either problem or both are greatly appreciated.

Hope you didn't install the IDE drivers from the 4-in-1 pack.
If you did... well, uninstall them and go back to the ones from MS.
They work much better with optical drives.

Is that right? I did install the Via 4-in-1 during the troubleshooting.
Should I uninstall only the IDE drivers from the 4-in-1? Thanks for the tip.
