New system, XP Home, upon starting up Outlook Express - computer has slowed down to a 3-5 minute boot up. Before initiating Outlook Express - it was only 5 seconds. What's the problem - and how do I fix it?

go to Start/run and type in 'msconfig', click ok.
Select Startup tab and deselect items that you want,
except essentiol ones such as Antivirus. This will help
your PC to boot up faster. If your OE still has the same
problem, try un and reinstalling it from add remove
programs/add remove windows components. OE usually hangs
up if there's a mail in 'outbox' folder.

I had the same problem for the last ten days or so. I also lost, then,
my Antivirus virus update possibillities ! So I uninstalled Norton
Antivirus ( run the uninstaller 3 times in a row, like recommended in
their FAQ, using their uninstaller called: Rnav2003.exe, found there),
then deleted manually all leftover files. Then I reinstalled Norton
Antivirus 2002. Since then: absolutely no problem, and my Win XP Pro
boots up in 5 or 6 sec, like before.
Hope this can help.
