Slotchbar

Hi,
I got a file called slotchbar in the add/remove programme
list, I couldn't remove the programme....i tried scanning
with all the spywares like Spybot and Destroy, Adware
6.0, The cleaner 4.1.......Eventhough i couldn't remove
the programme....I don't know where that programme been
saved.......please help me to remove that programme.....

Slotchbar is a nasty program that hijacks your browser and
changes your home page I think. Both SpySweeper and Pest
Patrol would rid your computer of it. There is a free
version of Webroot SpySweeper. Do a search and you should
be able to find it. It warns you as soon as a program like
slotchbar tries to hijack your browser.

I believe this is a variant of the CoolWebSearch malware. First, make
sure your Spybot S&D and Ad-aware are using the most recent reference
files. Then download CWShredder and HijackThis from
http://aumha.org/freeware.htm. Although CWShredder is no longer being
updated, it will still clean older variants of the CoolWebSearch
malware. Please read the instructions carefully. Also, make sure
you've visited Windows Update and applied all security patches. Do not
install driver updates from Windows Update. Make sure you are running a
firewall and have a current antivirus installed. Do all scans for
malware in Safe Mode.
