Slides advance when I don't want them to/one after another!

Hi, I have had a problem recently when using PowerPoint (R) presentations.
The slide show advances many slides one after another instead of just to the
next page when I use my remote control that came with the projector a few
years ago. I assumed it was the remote so I paid a lot of money for a new
one. Unfortunately, I just tested it and it still happens (sporadically only
still). Any ideas or suggestions? It never happens if I stand at the laptop
and advance manually, however, this is not consistent with my style. Having
to apologize to the attendees for seeing dozens of slides one after another
several times during a seminar isn't fun anymore either. Please let me know
what you think. Thanks.

Sounds like PowerPoint is receiving multiple clicks/advance requests. I am
guessing you have a USB remote, so the first step would be trouble shooting
the remote:
- Is the remote IR (infra red) or RF (radio frequency)?
- Personal note: ONLY use an RF remote
- What is the distance rating for the receiver and are you within that
range?
- Check the device manager to assure the USB receiver is recognized and
functioning properly
- Are there other USB devices attached to the computer?
- Try a different USB port for the receiver
- Receiver should be attached directly to a computer USB port vs. a hub

I personally use presentation remotes and have gone through dozens looking
for reliable ones. My personal recomendation is the Interlink Navigator. I
also like several of the Honeywell systems. After that I jump to the D'San
Perfect Cue (but at $800+ not recomended for most budgets).
