slide transition powerpoint 2003

If you have 3 slides with the 2nd slide having an automatic transition of 2
seconds to the 3rd, it performs ok. If you hyperlink back to slide 1 from
slide 3, the automatic transition fails with the slide freezing. Powerpoint
2000 does not have this trait why does 2003

When you hyperlink back to the slide, powerpoint will remember that you have
perform the animations already, hence, the slide will display at its final
result.
To resolve this, create one new slide before the actual slide you want to
display. Then, have the hyperlink linking to the new slide.

At the new slide, go to Slide Show > Slide Transition.
Then, uncheck On mouse click and tick Automatically after.
Do not put any animations on the new slide.
Now, when you click on the hyperlink, it will bring you to the new slide
then automatically to the actual slide showing the animations.

This solution is fine, but I want to go back to this slide several
times. I know I could insert several blank slides before the one I want
to use. Maybe for product evolution there could be a slide check box
that asks if you return to this slide play all animations- yes or no.
