Slide transition and inserting sound file

I've successfully used PPT previously, but not in over a year, and I'm having
difficulty with both issues. I check the appropriate boxes (advance
automatically and "every 2 seconds", but when I want to view the slideshow,
the first slide opens and it stops there.

Also having difficulty inserting a sound file. I want to use several songs
in the course of the slideshow...do I have to insert the file into each slide
separately? Yikes!

I am wondering if what is going on is that you added your sound to the first
slide, but didn't set it up to play while the slides advance. That would
explain both of your problems.
